Thomas A. Klingensmith of Madison Heights died September 18, 2021. He was 62 years old. Tom was born to Katherine (1936-1971) and Allan Klingensmith (1935-2000), December 27, 1958. He graduated from Avondale High School in 1977 and studied electrical engineering at National Institute of Technology, Class of 1985.
Allan remarried Maryanne during Tom’s teen years, adding 3 siblings to the family.
Tom married Cindy Wills in 1985. They bought a house in Madison Heights, where they raised 4 children.
Tom’s father started Variety Impressions, a printing company, and Tom worked there most of his life, taking it over after his father died, and continued running the company out of his own basement until present day. Tom also worked for Ticketmaster since November 1985. His most recent job description was IT Depot Manager. He was fondly known by many as “Ticketmaster Tom.”
Tom loved bowling and was on several leagues, both with Cindy and with friends. He also enjoyed volunteering and was involved in a variety of Children’s Charity’s for many years. He especially loved the bicycle giveaway every Christmas. Tom participated in many other fundraisers and charity events and had a knack for winning raffles. An active member of the Lions Club of Sterling Heights for several years, Tom was 2nd Vice President and awarded Lion of the Year in 2021.
He loved going to concerts and sporting events, more for the socializing than the actual events. He enjoyed working on cars and model cars, playing the bass guitar and jamming with his friends. Tom helped his uncle build bowling alleys in his youth.
Tom adopted his dog Ozzie from the Leader Dogs organization, who adopt out dogs that do not pass all of their tests. Ozzie did not pass because he was too friendly with humans and other dogs! His dog was his favorite child.
Tom’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy and children, Robin Jones, Nicholas Klingensmith, Michael Klingensmith, and Kyle (Amanda) Klingensmith. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Talan Robertson, Ravyn Robertson, Mason Klingensmith, and MacKenzie Klingensmith, mother, Maryanne Klingensmith, and siblings, Chuck (Susan) Minskey, Susan (Robert) Solliday, and Ed Minskey.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads) Thursday, September 23rd at 11am. Friends may visit Wednesday, September 22nd, 3-8pm. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
